Mammoet's jump rope

Heavy lift contractor Mammoet has lifted 240t offshore wind turbine monopiles with polyester fibre round slings from Dutch manufacturer Technotex. The heavy lift contractor is using its Jumping Jack jack-up barge to install wind turbines in the Burbo offshore wind farm project located off the coast of Liverpool, UK. The Technotex slings are made from DSM Dyneema HPPE high-performance polyethylene fibre that is claimed to be an eighth of the weight of steel wire ropes of the same capacity. The company claims that the fibre also stretches less than nylon or other types of polyethylene. Technotex round slings come in colour-coded capacities ranging from 1t to 10t, and in orange for loads between 10t and 120t.
